Sanya Launches “PassportFriendly” Program: One Passport, Unlimited Citywide Experiences
Starting from July 2026, Sanya launched the “PassportFriendly” consumption promotion initiative, offering exclusive benefits to inbound tourists holding valid foreign passports or Mainland Travel Permits for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Residents. The program will run until July 2027.
Tourists can learn about the program through official platforms or port-of-entry promotional materials upon arrival. After posting original Sanya content on overseas social media with the official hashtag #GoChinaInSanya, they can visit partner businesses such as duty-free shops, hotels, scenic spots and commercial districts, and receive a benefits package upon on-site verification, enjoying stacked discounts on top of existing promotions.
As of September 5, 53 partner merchants across Sanya have joined the program, covering key scenic spots, commercial entities, duty-free operators, and brand hotels under international hotel groups including Marriott, IHG, Hyatt, Accor, Ascott and Rosewood.
Supporting services including multilingual signage, foreign currency exchange, Alipay+ citywide digital payment, and foreign-language shopping guides at selected merchants are also in place. In July this year, Sanya was selected as a pilot city for enhancing digital service convenience for inbound visitors among key Chinese cities, with the number of merchants accepting foreign card payments continuing to rise across the city.
